Biography
Stephan Müller was born in Worms on May 22 1981. From 2004 until 2009, he studied visual comunications in Hamburg. In 2004, he presented his film "Nasse Zigarren für Berlin" – which was shot between 2002 and 2003 during the federal election campaign in Germany – at the Deutsche Jugendvideopreis where it went on to win the audience award. Müller's next short "Fliegenpflicht für Quadratköpfe" also garnered him many accolades, including the Jury Prize of the Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen.
In 2010, he and Erik Schmitt co-founded the production company Kamerapferd in Berlin. Their collaborative work "Nicht nur der Himmel ist blau" won them awards in Mainz (Best Short at the FILMZ festival), Berlin and Las Vegas (at the 48 Hour Film Project).
Their short "Nun Sehen Sie Folgendes", a satricial guide for aspiring filmmakers, won the 2011 German Short Film Award and the "Next Generation Short Tiger" which included a presentation at the Cannes IFF. Müller and Schmitt also provided animations for Frieder Schlaich's feature release "Weil ich schöner bin". In 2013, the experimental short "Nashorn im Galopp" won the Short Film Award at the Fünfseen-Filmfestival.
