Timothy Scannell grew up trilingual and became a member of the children's choir at the Munich Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz at the age of seven. He made his debut there as "Rudolph" in the Christmas concert. He gained his first experience in the film industry in student productions at the Munich Film School (HFF). Scannell made his big screen debut with a leading role in the children's film "Mein Lotta-Leben - Alles Tschaka mit Alpaka", as the new French classmate of the title character.
