Biography

Felix Maria Bühler, born in 1984 in Basel, Switzerland, began his studies in design at the Technical University of Nuremberg Georg Simon Ohm in 2014. During his time there, he focused on camera work and editing for several film projects. He also directed several short films, including the eight-minute documentary "Der Bogenbauer" (2015) and the eight-minute short fiction film "Der Mann mit der Briefmarke" (2017).

For his bachelor's thesis, Bühler collaborated with Lucas Fuchs (camera, editing) and Nikolai Wüstemann (VR, website) to create "Ewig bleiben treu die Alten" (2018), an 18-minute documentary about the German minority in Upper Silesia, Poland.

In 2019, Bühler pursued a directing degree at Babelsberg Film University. There, he directed the short documentary "Homo Bankiva" (2021), which premiered at the Kassel DOKfest and explores the work of artist Suzy van Zehlendorf, as well as the short fiction film "Standhaft" (2022).

In 2022, Bühler began working on his first feature-length film as both director and cameraman. "Bis hierhin und wie weiter?" is a documentary about five climate activists from different groups with varying approaches. The film premiered at the Hofer Filmtage in October 2023 and has since been showcased at various festivals, earning several awards. It was released in German cinemas in September 2024.
