Summary
Women and football. Despite growing public interest, professional female players are chronically marginalized. Many men still claim that women can't play competitive ball, and even esteemed female colleagues in the film business think that women football lacks thrill and is potentially boring. The film captures this different attitudes and takes a close look at the female players, their sport, the tournament and its reception in the media and by the public. It engagingly portrays the athletes who sacrifice a lot for their sport and their dream of winning the cup, and who are confronted with incomparably more financial obstacles than their male counterparts. Moreover, the film documents the World Cup in Germany and revives the emotions, hopes but also disappointments of the tournament.
