Humanoid robots are the new creatures. They work at the reception, in shopping malls or as cooks - and they have relationships with people. Like the charming Android Harmony, with whom the American Chuck sets off on a road trip across the USA. Harmony is the perfect partner for Chuck's solitary life. She doesn't ask overly intrusive questions and is programmed for empathy and compliments. And she likes books and can quote the futurist Ray Kurzweil off the cuff. On the other side of the world, in Tokyo, Sakurai is given the robot Pepper by her son, so that she is less alone. Pepper is very different from Harmony, little interested in the old woman's topics of conversation, but a sly dog and entertainer. While Harmony and Chuck search for love and Pepper and Grandma kill time, the question arises: How will we live together with artificial intelligence? What will we win, what will we lose?
