Summary
Documentary about the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, which is the site of a unique situation: Here, Greek orthodox Christians, Franciscans, Syrian and Armenian Christians, Ethiopian Abyssinians and Egypt Copts literally live door to door. Yet the key to the church is kept by a Muslim family, who opens the gate in the morning and closes it again for the night.
The idea of brotherhood seems somewhat lost on this congregation of different believers, which has existed since the Ottoman Empire. Jealously, each religious group guards its own interest in the church, and on high holidays, their individual processions are competing, sometimes even resulting in violent blows between the followers. Only at night, when the involuntary community is locked in the church and the monks pray at the gravesite, there is peace and unity.
