Jona Gaensslen was born in Duisburg in 2005. When he was two, his family moved to Berlin. Having already shown great interest in acting in kindergarten and primary school, he first appeared in a small role in 2017 for the short film "Lilou Couleur". In the same year Gaensslen got his first leading role: In Marcus H. Rosenmüller's movie "Unheimlich perfekte Freunde" ("Double Trouble and the Magical Mirror"), about two best friends who magically get doppelgangers who are "perfect" in every respect, but also become increasingly scary. The film was released in April 2019. Before that, in February 2019, Gaensslen appeared on stage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in the play "Der Plan von der Abschaffung des Dunkels".
