Biography

Michal Rogalski was born in Warsaw on February 8 1970. He studied journalism and political science, and subsequently enrolled at the "Leon Schiller" film school in Lodz. After graduating in 2001, he made his first short documentary "Film Zycia – Pawel i Ewa" ("Gefilmtes Leben – Pawel und Ewa"), which won two awards at the Cracow Film Festival. Rogalski continued to make short and mid-length documentaries, and also attended a seminar on film direction at the Andrzej Wajda School in 2007.

He made his feature-length film debut with the 2009 action comedy "Ostatnia akcja" ("The Last Action"). After working predominately in television, his sophomore theatrical release "Unser letzter Sommer" (DE/PL) premiered at the 2015 Montreal Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay. The WWII drama screened at several other festivals before being released in Germany in October 2015.
