Summary
Harry Haller is in crisis: the intellectual outsider and misanthrope is suffering because his desire for freedom and his longing for love are at odds. His inner turmoil drives him into a deep depression, and the only way out seems to be suicide. So, Harry decides to die on his 50th birthday. But then he encounters the mysterious Hermine, who opens up an entirely new world for him: drugs, women, and a "Magic Theater" blur the lines between reality and illusion.
A journey of self-discovery in bourgeois Germany of the 1920s. Based on the novel by Nobel laureate Hermann Hesse.
