Oliver Kalkofe, born September 12, 1965, in Hannover, became a multilingual secretary and business interpreter before studying journalism, and German and English literature in Münster. During that time, Kalkofe started to work for radio stations like WDR and Deutschlandfunk. After an internship at radio ffn, Kalkofe started as an author, producer, and speaker for radio ffn"s satirical show "Frühstyxradio". Kalkofe then developed several characters as well as the enormously successful, award-winning series "Kalkofes Mattscheibe" for "Frühstyxradio". In the following years, "Frühstyxradio" became the most successful comedy show on German radio, accompanied by similarly successful "Frühstyxradio" live shows and CDs.
In 1994, Kalkofe started the TV version of "Kalkofes Mattscheibe" for the pay TV channel Premiere. Two years later, the satire show won the Grimme prize for its media criticism. Premiere stopped the TV show in 1999 but "Kalkofes Mattscheibe" returned to TV in 2003 on Pro 7. In 1998, the satirist Kalkofe made his movie debut in a short appearance in the comedy "Kai Rabe gegen die Vatikankiller" ("Kai Rabe vs. The Vatikan Killers"). In 2004, Kalkofe wrote the script to the successful Edgar Wallace parody "Der Wixxer" and also starred in one of the leading roles. Furthermore, Kalkofe appeared as dubbing voice in animation films such as "Robots" and "Cars". In March of 2007, Kalkofe returns to the screen in the role of inspector Even Longer in "Neues vom Wixxer", the sequel to "Der Wixxer".
Kalkofe continued to moonlight as a movie actor, appearing in the trash comedy "Der goldene Nazivampir von Absam 2 - Das Geheimnis von Schloß Kottlitz" ("Golden Nazi Vampire of Absam Part II, The Secret of Kottlitz Castle", 2007) and the crime caper "Jerry Cotton" (2010). His voice performance in the dubbed version of the animated feature film "Monsters vs. Aliens" (US 2009) won him an award at the Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart. He also worked as a voice talent on in "Urmel voll in Fahrt" (2008), "OSS 117: Rio ne répond plus" ("OSS 117: Lost in Rio", FR 2010) and "Lauras Stern und die Traummonster" (2011).
Yet first and foremost, Kalokofe maintained his career as a comedian and magazine columnist with a pinch for scathing media criticism. In 2012, the Tele 5 network revived his cult program "Kalkofes Mattscheibe" as "Kalkofes Mattscheibe Rekalked". Also on Tele 5, Kalkofe presented "Nichtgedanken" (2013), in which he recited from autobiographies by polarizing German celebrities like Bushido, Michaela Schaffrath, Carsten Maschmeyer or Bettina Wulff. Since 2013, he and Peter Rütten are co-hosting "Die schlechtesten Filme aller Zeiten" (SchleFaZ), in which they present abysmally bad genre films. From 2012 until 2014, Kalkofe voiced the dog Keks on the children's program Löwenzähnchen - Eine Schnüffelnase auf Entdeckungstour". He also voiced a flying German car in the US animated feature film "Planes" (2013), also reprising the part for the German dubbed version of the film.
On the big screen, he had a supporting role in the comedy "Gut zu Vögeln" (2015) and a cameo in the cult film "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" (US 2015).
